DARE DREAM & DISCOVER THE TRUE YOU

Fountain of Youth

The Fountain of Youth
By Coach Jane

Everywhere we look these days there are products and programs to make and keep you looking younger. I totally believe in looking your best, don’t get me wrong but somehow our society has become obsessed with denying our age. There is beauty at every age, what has happened to the beauty within?

Remember what you were like as a kid? You didn’t worry much about how you looked. Life was about having fun and playing with your friends. How did life become so darned serious?

The fountain of youth has been carefully hidden. To recapture the fountain of youth the place to look is inside you! Oh those anti-aging products may help but the true ageless qualities are your energy and the zest for life you have.

How can you get more of this?
Lighten up and stop being so serious
Laugh have a good giggle or belly laugh
Believe you are never too old
Follow your heart’s desire there will never be a better time
Be proud of your laugh lines you put them there
Let go of the worry habit
Forget the stress, stop feeling the pressure to stay 25
Everyday tell yourself how wonderful your are

Trying to look like you are in your twenties is as futile as keeping your kids little. If you are a parent reading this you can relate. My absolute favourite age for my kids was six months. They stayed where I put them and they were just so darned cute with their big gummy smiles. Trying to stay unrealistically young is like trying to keep your kids babies. It is not going to happen!

Embrace your life and be all you can be. True ageless beauty is what we see when we meet someone who is in their seventies or eighties and we feel captivated and invigorated just to be in their presence. With any luck we’ll get there too!!!

Age really is just a number. Every morning when I get up, I look in the mirror and tell myself I get younger everyday. I am happy to be alive and feel so blessed. Life wasn’t always like this but I have made it so and you can too.

In May of this year my oldest daughter and I were Sunshine Girls in the Toronto Sun papers. All things are possible when you stay in the place of possibilities. I know I look younger and more alive now than I did 10 years ago. Next month I will celebrate a big birthday ……….yes I will be turning 50 another milestone. My grandmother only lived to 50 so I will cherish every moment of this gift called life!

The Power Of Girlfriends!

The Power of Girlfriends!

By Coach Jane Schnurr

Hey Girlfriend! If we could get together and have a cup of tea or a glass of wine, what would you share? How are things in your world? It is amazing how talking to a good friend can soothe the soul and help us find solace in the middle of a storm.

Ah the power of girlfriends. I know for me, I feel blessed with the wonderful women that are in my life. We may not always agree on everything but we are always there for each other. Through the years we have supported each other through many changes, new husbands, different career paths and businesses, kid challenges, health issues, moments of joy and times of sorrow and pain.

Ah the blessings of love and friendship. Life was not always like this for me. There was a period in my life when I was “too busy” to cultivate and grow any friendships. It didn’t help that my husband at the time discouraged me from having any friends. Friendship and support was what I craved and needed the most.

I was in the Super-Mom and Super-Woman phase of my life. What seemed important to me at the time has faded into oblivion. Did I learn from this time? Yes for sure I did but the lessons were not easily retained. I have learned that life is all about balance. You see that business that I thought was so important at the time has since passed from my life.

These days I work as a Life Coach and share with others some of the wisdom that I have come to know. This fall I will be traveling along with one of my best girl friends Darlene Christianson, to Tuscany Italy for the Dare Dream Discover Tour. We put together this tour for women only. Darlene and her husband Tom have a tour company and are the experts at providing the trip of a lifetime

We designed this tour to empower women. This is your opportunity to make some new friends and have the time of your life. If you feel some discontent in your life, are in the middle of change or ready for more in your life, check it out. I will be coaching the participants before we travel, we’ll have some workshops while away and of course tons of fun!!! The itinerary is action packed.

Every January, I set a personal theme for my intention for the year to come. This year I decided to live my life as a daring adventure. I hope you will join me on this daring adventure we put together for you.

Anything Is Possible!

Dare, Dream, Discover
How Two Female Entrepreneurs Are Sharing Their Strength with Others by Melanie Joy Douglas, Monster.ca “You come back renewed, ready to take on the world, and create the life you deserve.” – Darlene Christianson The story of Dare-Dream-Discover goes something like this: two bright, vibrant, and entrepreneurial women were sitting around talking one night when they thought… wouldn’t it be neat to be able to help other women empower themselves in a one-of-a-kind experience? They decided they could only accomplish such a transformative experience if they could take a group of women away from everything around them – their familiar surroundings, their every day lives and people – and immerse them in a completely new setting. And they had just the place in mind… Italy! Darlene Christianson, co-host of a daytime television show and perennial tour guide, and Jane Schnurr, a successful entrepreneur and full-time life coach, put their talents together – touring and coaching – and developed Dare-Dream-Discover, an all-inclusive 10-day women-only touring experience in Italy, complete with personal coaching. I recently sat down with these women to find out more about their new venture.First of all - why women-only? ”I think a lot of women have forgotten who they are,” says Schnurr. “They get to a place in life and they’re taking care of everyone else except themselves, whether they’re a high-powered executive or a stay-at-home mom.” ”This trip,” she continues, “is all about remembering and accepting… and starting to stand in the place of who you really are.” Both Christianson and Schnurr have encountered personal hardship in their lives, but they recognize how those “speedbumps,” as Christianson puts it, have given them credibility, strength, and power as women. Their goal in life is to share what they’ve learned with other women – to inspire and empower as many others as possible. But the tour is not just for women who may feel out-of-touch with themselves; it’s for any woman looking for a little something more and wanting to take the time (and money) to treat herself. “A lot of women get really busy in their careers and they don’t have the same network of girlfriends they used to have,” Schnurr points out. “From my own experience and the people I work with, girlfriends are hugely important! But there are many women out there who have lost that. Well, they’ll have plenty at the end of this tour,” she says with a laugh. “I think a lot of successful women always want to be learning, always want to be getting better,” adds Christianson. “This tour helps them continue the journey.” And so the tour name? “Dare to be who you really want to be, dream about going away and reaching your ultimate goals, and discover your true authentic self,” says Christianson. “Dare to dream and discover everything that you’re supposed to be.” Schnurr, who runs her own coaching business, Awesome Coaching Enterprises, has three coaching sessions with each of the Dare-Dream-Discover women before they leave for Italy (all of which can be done over the phone if necessary.) “I’ll have a good sense of what they’re about,” she says. “They’ll get some homework and they’ll already be working on some change in their life before we go, so the trip is really designed to have a huge impact – to be a transformative process.” While in Italy, there will be some structured workshops as well as more informal coaching sessions, and the ladies will have a follow-up coaching session with Schnurr upon return. ”The experience is designed to make some changes - to hold people accountable and celebrate them,” she explains. But don’t underestimate the fun-factor. “A lot of my clients don’t know how to have fun anymore,” Shnurr says. “They get so wrapped up in their business, their work, their responsibilities, that they completely forget how to just have fun. One of the components no one could ever have enough of is fun.” New trends in travelChristianson has been working in the travel industry with her husband, Tom, for the past six years, designing and running custom tours with their business Venture Bound Tours Inc. “The travel industry has really changed in the last ten years,” she explains. “People are wanting to do more than just sit on a beach. That’s kind of a been-there-done-that. They want an adventure. They want to do something different, and they want to come out of it learning something new.” And Christianson should know: Venture Bound Tours Inc. offers European getaways built around such themes as military history; art history; ballooning; golfing; biking and hiking; culinary adventures; chateaus; wine, olive oil and balsamic vinegar tasting; alpine skiing; photography; opera; even tours built around designer outlet shopping or ‘Christmas in Germany.’ Christianson notes a hot item in the adventure travel and unique tour trend is girlfriend getaway tours. “They’re becoming huge,” she says. “I’ve seen a lot of magazines doing features on these types of getaways.” Life-coaching tours seem to be the next step. ”There are a lot of people looking for more fulfillment…” says Schnurr, “for those wonderful moments that make you go, ‘Ah! This is what life is all about.’”Christianson and Schnurr have blended the girlfriend getaway tour with life-coaching and have carved out their own niche - quite the recipe for success. The importance of Italy”When we talked about taking people away, Italy was the number one choice,” explains Christianson. “Italy is the kind of country you go to and you fall in love with automatically. I don’t know what it is… You’re surrounded by beauty everywhere you look. The people are so happy, so gregarious… just so excited about life. And the aromas… oh, it really touches all of your senses. There’s a tranquility about it.” ”We go into the middle of Tuscany in the Chianti region and we stay in a 900-year-old castle,” she continues. “There’s so much history. When you get up in the morning and you look out, you’re surrounded by vineyards and olive groves, and the air is so sweet… You can’t help but become renewed and refreshed just with the scenery, let alone being there with other women who are open and welcoming change into their lives. It just catches on.” “When you’re surrounded beauty – beautiful scenery, aromas, people, and food – it just opens the door to change,” adds Schnurr. “The coaching is part of it and Italy does the rest.” Being positive is a choice The enthusiasm of these two women, who met back in 2001, is insurmountable; they just radiate positive energy. So, what’s their secret? Have they always been so balanced and engaged in life? “Balance didn’t come easy for me,” admits Schnurr, who, prior to coaching, ran a costume company, designing mascots as well as a flag and banner business. “I was a single mom with two little kids and a business. I remember coming home, putting my kids to bed, and having to tell them I’m going back to work now.” ”But when challenges were continuously thrown at me in life, I increasingly began to look at things from the perspective of – what can I learn from this? I think I realized quite a while ago that if you don’t learn the lesson the first time, it’s going to come back and you’ll get it again. I just keep moving on, learning new things, trusting the universe, and loving my life.” ”If I could go back to who I was in my early twenties and give myself some advice,” Christianson pipes up, “I would say ‘believe in yourself’. Nobody’s perfect… don’t get too caught up in trying to be accepted… you’re capable of doing whatever you put your mind to. And, ‘don’t be afraid to fail’. For years, I was so afraid to try things or to make changes. Now I see that I have so many other adventures ahead of me. I might not be the best at them, but I’ll try them.” Both women are extremely involved in their community and have even started their own women’s group in Collingwood called WAM: Women Achieving More. The group has informal meetings where they get together, and as Christianson says, “eat, drink, and talk.” They have ‘goal’ nights and support each other when someone is going through a tough time. Informality aside, they also participate in charity events, raising money for MS and cancer, and take initiatives like sponsoring a family at Christmas. What does the future hold for these two? “The possibilities are endless,” says Schnurr, who is currently writing a book, while Christianson is pursuing public-speaking opportunities, in addition to her touring and hosting gigs. “We want to reach as many people as we can and get them excited about their lives,” Christianson says. “We’re starting with women, but this could lead to tours for both men and women, couples, or corporate get-aways. We have so many ideas.” “There’s a time in life when you’re always trying to ‘get’," she explains. "Get ahead, get a job, get more money, get things for your kids. Then it gets to a point when you want to do more, be more, to do something that means more. It stops being about 'getting.'” Their passion for life is contagious. ”If you love what you do and you’re happy with who you are and love your life, it’s like a fountain… It keeps flowing and goes to other people,” notes Schnurr. “It’s a privilege to do this work. It’s really neat to be part of someone’s life and have an impact.” Dare-Dream-Discover’s next voyage is October 26th to November 3rd, 2007.

Reawakening the Power of YOU!

Reawakening the Power of You!
By Coach Jane

Life is all about change. There is a constant ebb and flow to life, much like the tides and the changing moon so are we. It is easy to forget all the changes as they happen when we view them as positive. We accept them whole heartedly and move on to the next excitedly.

The positive changes are much easier to embrace and often easier to take for granted and forget. The ones we view as negative are quite often the ones we focus on and the place we get stuck. Remember whatever you focus on tends to expand. What would it take for you to get going and embrace your life more fully this year? What would it be like if you did?

I work with clients who quite often feel that there is a mountain blocking their path and see no way to get past this enormous obstacle. If this is you, there is always a solution. The path may take you in a new direction but your coach can help you to get moving again.

Our tour to Italy this October is a celebration. It is a celebration and reawakening of the power of you! Start viewing your life from the top of the mountain. Can you tell I am excited about this tour? Set your intention to join us and it will happen! I look at my own life over the last three months of this year and the changes are huge.

You see, I set my intention for this year to be a daring adventure and adventure it has been so far. I have embarked on many different directions on my career path. I joined with a speaking company to do more training presentations and executive coaching to corporate America. I have gotten serious about my writing and the book has a direction now and I continue to expand the publications I write for. I have to tell you, I am having lots of fun and have made some great new friends!

The opportunities just continue to flow and they keep flowing to me effortlessly. I believe when you are really in your zone others see your purpose in you for you radiate it so clearly. I am grateful to do this wonderful work, which I view as such a privilege with the wonderful people I call clients.

I will be coaching clients individually prior to departure and we will have workshops while away. This mixed with the beauty of Tuscany will inspire you to new heights to Dare, Dream and Discover your awesome life!

Dare-Dream-Discover Tuscan Holiday-2007

Oct 26th - Nov 3rd
Call for more information 1 877 288 6188

YOUR TOUR BEGINS
Day One - Evening flight from Toronto, arriving approx 9am/10am.

Day Two - Arrival Rome Fiummincino Airport. We’ll proceed north stopping in picturesque Orvieto for a welcome lunch. While there we will check out one of the most impressive cathedrals in Italy. The town, perched and built on a cliff for protection is famous for it’s excellent white wine. Another hour north we will arrive at the grounds of the Castle di Meleto, our home for the entire trip. This nine hundred year old castle was fought over and taken several different times in the wars for Tuscan and Italian power by the great city states of Siena and Florence. From the castle grounds overlooking the vineyards you will see other castles and ruins that dot the Tuscan landscape.

Day Three- Welcome – Group coaching “The Power of Intent”. Movement to Florence. Cradle of the Renaissance, Florence is everything and more than you can imagine. If you have been there before I guarantee you will see lots of new wonders. We’ll lunch in the magnificient Palazzo Vecchio Square within stones throw of the Uffizzi Gallery and in view of impressive statues by Cellini and Giambologna. Ponte Vecchio, the Straw Market, the great cathedral the Duomo plus many more sites. I’ll give you a comprehensive walking tour and then after lunch you can continue with me or check out the fabulous shops and stores that Florence is so famous for or just sit in a cafĂ© and people watch. We will enjoy a wonderful Italian dinner in Florence.

Day Four- Breakfast – Theme for the Day, Group Coaching, get your day started with great learning and inspiring discussionFirst we will stop above Florence for a fantastic tour of a castle more than 700 years old which is now the headquarters of the world famous Frescobaldi wines and olive oil. After the tour of the wine cellars and castle we will sit down and test the wines of the region accompanied by local cheeses, sausages, and olives. We’ll head once more to Florence and check out the great open air market of San Lorenzo. We’ll then visit the San Lorenzo chapel where Michelangelo did the Medici tombs. The ones that are not completed are as interesting as those that are for an understanding of the genius of the artist. Those who wish can proceed to see the masterpiece David. Free leisure time to enjoy this mystic city.

Day Five- Morning Workshop - What are your values? Today we will stay closer to our base location but that does not mean we will just be hanging around. We’ll check out the Baron Riscoli’s castle where the recipe for the famous Chianti wine came from. We will also enjoy the rich wines of Badio di Countonbono. We will visit some Tuscan hilltop towns and go to a local open air market where they sell food, clothing, art; really everything. We will enjoy wine and olive oil tasting at the Castle of Meleto. Dinner at the castle.

Day Six- Breakfast – Theme for the Day, Group Coaching, get your day started with great learning and inspiring discussionWe are off to Siena, Florence’s rival in the Renaissance. It’s Great Square where they run the famous Palio twice a year is unforgettable. The city is divided into sections better known as”contradas”. You will know which section you are in when you see the colourful banners. If we are lucky we will see the flag throwers as different sections march about the town with drums and flutes. The Duomo rivals that of any Italian city and the shops that ring the main Square make you realize that this was indeed a serious rival to Florence. That evening we will head for dinner to the walled town of Montereggioni. Located just 15 minutes out of Siena it was one of the outposts in the wars against Florence. Incredible sites and even more incredible hearty Tuscan home cooking await you within the walls.

Day Seven - Morning Workshop – What does your future look like? Hiking in the day & cooking demonstration at castle.

Day Eight- Breakfast – Theme for the Day, Group Coaching, get your day started with great learning and inspiring discussionMontalcino and Montepulciano, two of the most famous of Tuscan hill towns are our destinations for today. Both are incredibly famous for their wine which we will of course have the opportunity to try and buy. The scenery on the way to the towns is incredible and you will want to get out and take pictures throughout the day. I’ll fill you in on the history of the towns as we see the sites, unchanged for hundreds of years. One of the most famous of Tuscan towns is San Gimignano. It is the Tuscan town of towers. The important families built these medieval skyscrapers. Thirteen still remain. The others were destroyed by the Florentine Medici’s when the other families did not submit to their rule. Outstanding scenery and shopping around and in the town; A fitting way to close your Tuscan holiday.
